The leather used by La Portegna is characterized by its vegetable tanning process, which involves a careful combination of natural tannins, flower extracts and tree bark. This method guarantees obtaining high quality and durable leather. Additionally, to improve its properties, the leather is treated with olive oil, which provides it with nutrients, softness and greater resistance, giving it an exceptional appearance and texture.
This all-natural process has two advantages: it results in exceptional looking leather that develops a unique "patina" over time; It literally gets better with age and is undoubtedly more environmentally friendly, unlike the more commonly used chrome tanning processes.
